Built on the Stellar blockchain, Aquarius is a decentralized finance (DeFi) hub that enables users to swap tokens instantly, provide liquidity, earn rewards, and participate in governance. As Stellar's DeFi hub, Aquarius has been operating since 2021, initially as a liquidity layer designed to incentivize market-making and liquidity provision on Stellar's native DEX and AMMs.
Aquarius' proprietary Soroban AMM solution enables fully decentralized liquidity provision on Stellar, allowing users to deposit and withdraw funds, earn rewards for providing liquidity, and utilize the Swap interface to exchange a wide range of Stellar assets. The platform supports both 2-asset and 3-asset pools, enabling flexible multi-asset strategies, and works with standard Stellar assets as well as new Soroban-based tokens.
The Aquarius ecosystem is designed to drive deep liquidity and sustainable DeFi growth, with incentives that reward traders, voters, and liquidity providers. Traders can swap tokens seamlessly through Aquarius AMMs with low fees and fast on-chain execution, while voters can lock AQUA into ICE to vote on pools and direct emissions, earning AQUA rewards every day. Liquidity providers can earn AQUA rewards, trading fees, and occasional bonus tokens by providing liquidity to AMM pools.
Aquarius has undergone rigorous audits, including a comprehensive audit by CoinFabrik in March 2024, which identified several high-risk issues that were subsequently addressed by the Aquarius team. The platform's security is further reinforced by its participation in bug bounty programs, with notable fixes for potential duplication of LP rewards and other vulnerabilities.
As a leading DeFi hub on Stellar, Aquarius has achieved significant traction, with over $414.71M in total swap volume and $39.17M in total liquidity locked in pools. The platform's utility token, AQUA, is used to incentivize liquidity provision, governance participation, and other activities within the ecosystem, providing value to holders and users alike.
